S6 Landscape Different Views Gallery
LANDSCAPE: DIFFERENT VIEWS
Original Exhibit Dates: February 2014
“Landscape: Different Views” provides a look into the different ways and mediums that 5 artists use to capture landscapes.
Fort Myers’, Greg Biolchini returns to the gallery with his most recent paintings that capture the grandeur and majesty of our Florida Skies and continue to leave us touched by their beauty and amazed by his ability.
The first photography shown at the gallery is by Karen Glaser (Chicago and Gainesville) whose underwater images of the Florida Everglades and Swamps is astonishing.
Cuban-born Alejandro Mendoza is a classically trained Miami-based sculptor whose abstract sculptures and surreal drawings are about home. As he explains, his sculptures hang on the wall and he draws in “360.”
Sondra Dorn (Asheville, NC) and Marianne van Lent (NYC and Upstate NY) create abstract landscapes in unusual mediums.
Dorn’s mixed media pieces include photography, paint, fabric and wax. The combination produces imagery that is textured and otherworldly.
Juxtaposed to Dorn’s au courant methods, van Lent’s paintings are old-worldly. Using fresco secco, a technique documented in the 8thc, on canvas van Lent’s work captures the light and feel of the places she loves.
